Our 2nd generation of BCD’s are now in production and ready for shipment. The new intuitive 4 point adjustment is a practical improvement above the previous 3 point design.
Graflex understands the importance of Boresight Retention in a zoom lens. The ability to remain on target, no matter the focal length position, is one of the most important characteristics in any zoom lens. Although our zoom lenses are inherently designed to provide excellent boresight this feature can always be improved. The Graflex Boresight Compensation Device or BCD may be applied to most any zoom lens and acts to position the C or CS mount in any direction perpendicular to the optical axis. In effect this corrects for mechanical misalignment in the zoom lens as well as the CCD chip positioning within a camera. Misalignment can be corrected or improved by as much as 30% while not degrading the inherent ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions.
The original design pull/pushes the C or CS mount via screws set 120 degrees apart along the circumference of the BCD, the process can be difficult and is anti-intuitive. We have now designed the 2nd generation BCD, it provides four points of adjustment, set 90 degrees apart, and makes it much easier to perform the alignment adjustments; the 2nd generation of BCD’s are now available for shipment.
The Graflex BCD does not fit all zoom lenses, please contact factory for full details.
NOTE: It is important to note the application of a BCD converts a previously C mount lens to CS mount.
